Here is a paper that I wrote for my sister for her class for $20
Theme: Equal Rights
Since 1900, various groups in the United States have struggled to achieve full equality.
Identify one group of people in American society that has been denied equal rights.
-Discuss a major problem this group has encountered since 1900 in its struggle for full equality.
-Discuss two specific actions that have beeen taken by an individual, an organization, or government in an effort to help this group overcome the problem.
-Evalute the extent to which this group has achieved eqaulity today
Thusly... i chose the stonewall riots... also cause my mom will be pissed. and because i know ALL ABOUT IT.
Anyways, if you don't know all about stonewall, here is a very basic run down in this paper. There is a lot more to it really politically and all and much more history and background to all the other associations and hatecrimes going on. But this was a major important turning point and is the reason we have pride parades and the day of silence etc: so give it a read.
Also I recommend reading: Making Gay History by Eric Marcus. This covers gay history from the early 1940s about to today through interviews with people from Dr. Evelyn Hooker, who did work similar to Kinsey, all the way to my beloved Ellen D. Check it out. Its all about our fight for lesbian and gay equal rights.
Anyway I could talk all night.
Awesome and amazing. kind of done half fast but gets most of the important details down. Also the song about stonewall that plays between commercials occasionally on LOGO is insanely accurate and hilarious. Check that out too.
I'll write all about the crazy shit i'm doing with PRIDE on campus tomorrow maybe. We've got the GLBT conference here coming up this weekend and I'm mad busy.
